Woman rescued after getting lost on Bray Head
A YOUNG lAdy who lost her wAy wAs resCued from the BrAy HeAd AreA As night fell lAst SundAy.
The 22-yeAr-old KoreAn lAdy got into diffiCulty when she left the mAin route over BrAy HeAd And BeCAme disoriented.
She hAd Been wAlking Along the CoAstAl AreA Between BrAy And Greystones. She found herself surrounded By dense gorse And wAs not ABle to reloCAte herself. This wAs when she CAlled for AssistAnCe.
The GArdA Control Centre rAised the AlArm with their ColleAgues At BrAy GArdA StAtion. This All oCCurred Between 4 p.m. And 5 p.m. on SundAy As it wAs getting dArk.
The womAn ContACted the gArdAi And explAined thAt she did not know where she wAs And needed AssistAnCe.
The gArdAi looked for the help of the DuBlin-WiCklow MountAin ResCue TeAm And the Glen of ImAAl Red Cross MountAin TeAm.
ContACt wAs mAintAined with the lAdy viA her moBile phone And the Air support unit wAs Brought in. She wAs Asked to turn on A torCh she hAd to indiCAte her loCAtion.
The GArdA Air Support heliCopter Assisted in the seArCh And soon loCAted the missing womAn in A loCAtion south of BrAy HeAd.
They used the ‘night sun’ light And the heliCopter Crew kept the light on her loCAtion. MountAin ResCue personnel then wAlked in to where she wAs And esCorted her to sAfety. The womAn suffered no injuries during her ordeAl. A spokesmAn for the DuBlin WiCklow MountAin ResCue TeAm Confirmed thAt the young womAn is from KoreA. He sAid thAt he Believes she might hAve Been visiting WiCklow rAther thAn resident here.
