HUNDREDS of boys and girls opened presents on Christmas morning which they would not have received without the generosity of the people of Wicklow.

This was East Coast FM’s ‘Give a Gift’ campaign which got under way for the sixth time this year, organised again by the station’s Morning Show producer, Claire Darmody.

All of the presents given were donated to St Vincent de Paul and distributed to families in need this Christmas.

Since East Coast FM’s give a gift campaign began, the demand on St Vincent de Paul has increased more than 100 per cent.

The piles of toys were bigger this year than ever before though, with barely room to move in the reception area of East Coast FM.

One anonymous donor comes in every year. He leaves a pile of toys, and leaves without a word. ‘We don’t know who he is,’ said a spokesperson for the radio station.
