Vital funds raised at mighty match
THE Baltinglass ladies GAA team and the Donard-The Glen camogie team battled it out for cancer in a charity game played in Donard GAA grounds last weekend on what was a memorable and worthwhile occasion for all involved.
Both teams put up a really good display of football and camogie on the day and all in attendance got a chance to see some of the best players in the county playing both codes during the match.
The rules of the match were quiet unique, with the first half all football and the second half all camogie.
As expected both teams won their own half with both sets of players showing great skills in both football and camogie.
Damian Byrne was the referee for the match and the game was played in a very sporting manner.
This game was not about winning or losing but about raising money for Action Breast Cancer and the funds raised will be of huge benefit to people affected by breast cancer.
A big thank you is offered to all who attended the match or who sponsored any of the players on the day.
The organisers would like to offer many thanks to both players and management who played on the day and to Donard GAA Club and Twoomeys Bar, Donard, who provided food and refreshments after the game.
Finally a special word of thanks to Amanda Mills, Mary O’Neill and Paul Garrigan who organised the event.
