Ser­vices of Wor­ship for Sun­day Jan­uary 4th–The Sec­ond Sun­day of Christ­mas; 8.30am–Holy Com­mu­nion; 11am–Holy Com­mu­nion; 7pm -Evening Prayer.

Rath­michael Parish Cal­en­dar: The Rath­michael Parish Cal­en­dar cel­e­brat­ing 150 years of parish life and wor­ship is now avail­able at the mod­est cost of €10 and will be on sale after church cof­fee morn­ings or from 087-2229633.

The Al­pha /In-Be­tween Book Club: The two books for re­view and dis­cus­sion at the Jan­uary meet­ing will be ‘ The Zookeeper’s Wife ‘ by Dianna Ack­er­man, and ‘ No­rah Web­ster ‘ by Colm Tobin.

ST.ANNE’S PARISH

Mass Times: Mass is cel­e­brated in St. Anne’s Church at 10am and 7.30pm Mon­day to Fri­day, (ex­cept dur­ing July & Au­gust). Week­end Mass times are Satur­day 6.30pm Vigil Mass and on Sun­day at 8am, (9am in St. Pa­trick’s Church in St. Colum­cille’s Hos­pi­tal), 10.30am (Fam­ily Mass), 12 Noon, and 6pm.

New Year’s Day Masses: 10am. No Evening Mass.

First Fri­day Vis­its: Fri­day is the First Fri­day of the Month and any house­bound parish­ioner wish­ing to re­ceive a visit from one of the priests of the parish is asked to leave their con­tact de­tails with the Parish Of­fice.

The Feast of the Epiphany: Next Tues­day is the Feast of the Epiphany and a Holy Day of Obli­ga­tion. Masses are 7.30pm Mon­day (Vigil) and on Tues­day at 10am, 12 Noon, and 7.30pm.

First Fri­day Blessed Sacra­ment Ado­ra­tion: There will be no Blessed Sacra­ment Ado­ra­tion this Fri­day (Jan­uary 2nd) but will re­sume again on Fri­day Fe­bru­ary 6th.

To do this we need a sec­ond team of peo­ple–if you are in­ter­ested in join­ing this team, please con­tact Ms. Elaine Ho­gan in the Parish Of­fice.

Men’s Cof­fee Morn­ing: Due to the suc­cess of the Men’s Cof­fee Morn­ing, this so­cial get to­gether will con­tinue ev­ery Fri­day from 10.30am to 11.30pm in St. Re­source Cen­tre.

BOOK SALE

On Satur­day morn­ing the Jan­uary First Satur­day Book Sale, which sup­ports the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion and Meals on Wheels, will take place from 10am to 1pm in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Cen­tre, Lower Road, Shankill. This is the ideal event to do­nate any sur­plus books one may have or pick up some new read­ing ma­te­rial. Do­na­tions of books, other than school/text books, ap­pre­ci­ated and ac­cept on the day. Make a point of call­ing in as you never know what you might find. Al­ways a great se­lec­tion of read­ing ma­te­rial at bar­gain prices.

SHANKILL LI­BRARY

The Li­brary will be closed to­day–New Year’s Eve and to­mor­row New Year’s Day, re-open­ing on Fri­day.

Open­ing hours for Shankill Li­brary are 10am to 1pm and from to 5pm on Mon­days and Wed­nes­days and on al­ter­nate Fri­days and Satur­days. The li­brary is open on Tues­days and Thurs­days from 2pm to 8pm. To re­new or in­quire about a book call 01-2823801 or Email:shankil­l­lib@dl­r­coco.ie.

HIS­TOR­I­CAL SO­CI­ETY

The next meet­ing of the Rath­michael His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, Shankill’s own lo­cal his­tory so­ci­ety, will take place on Wed­nes­day Jan­uary 7th 2015 at 8pm in Rath­michael School, Stone­bridge Road, Shankill, when the AGM of the So­ci­ety will take place.

The re­ports of the out­go­ing com­mit­tee which be placed be­fore mem­bers for dis­cus­sion and adop­tion and a com­mit­tee for 2015 elected. All mem­bers of the So­ci­ety are re­quested to at­tend.

The AGM will be fol­lowed by a short talk by John Len­non on ‘ Homestead House, Dun­drum ‘. This wish­ing to join the Rath­michael His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety can do at this meet­ing.
