Strictly raises €6,000 for Wicklow Hospice Foundation

Bray People - - NEWS -

Delgany Golf Club presented Wicklow Hospice with a cheque for €6,100, having raised the money through their recent ‘Strictly’ event.

The dancers took to the stage at Fitzpatrick Castle, Killiney, in March. The fun night of dance was a huge success. Gabriel Dooley was the main sponsor for the event.

Half of all of the proceeds from the online vote went to the Wicklow Hospice Foundation, with the rest for Delgany Golf Club.

There were 14 sets of dancers, with couples including Liam Kelly and Betty Sherry; Patrick Bradshaw and Pauline Burke; Donal Duffy and Eileen Bohane, and Ben Geoghegan and Rose Walker.

With guidance and instruction from professional dancers, the participants trained and rehearsed throughout February, working extremely hard to ensure a wonderful night of entertainment. As part of the fundraising drive, friends, families and backers of the various contenders were given the chance to support their favourite couple with paid-for votes.

Club Captain Dermot O’Brien has said that the local response to the fundraiser was fantastic and he sent his thanks to everyone who backed the venture in one way or another.

Lady Captain Bernie Jones, Captain Dermot O’Brien, and Gabriel Dooley present the cheque to Evanne Cahill.
