Tidy Towns exit garden project

Bray People - - NEWS -

GREYSTONES Tidy Towns have pulled out of the 1916 Remembrance Garden project.

The group was to collaborate with the council on landscape works for the garden. The Greystones Municipal District Office will now complete the project out of its own resources.

Cllr Nicola Lawless wondered how much this would cost and if Gateway resources could be used for the project. Engineer Ruairi O’Hanlon said that the money has to come from the parks and open spaces maintenance. They will re-use cobbles from another project to help keep costs down. Cathaoirleach Grainne McLoughlin said that this could lead to weeds, however Mr O’Hanlon said that they will be putting down a barrier. Meanwhile, the seven trees have been planted and the Proclamation stone and flag pole have been erected.
