Mis­sis­sippi choir to sing for Liv­ing Life

ON MON­DAY, May 16, 20 singers from Mill­saps Col­lege Cham­ber in Mis­sis­sippi and lo­cal Ir­ish tra­di­tional mu­si­cians ‘ The Dou­ble Bar­rels’ will give a ben­e­fit con­cert at The Well Church op­po­site the Royal Ho­tel in Bray.

The con­cert will be in aid of Liv­ing Life Coun­selling Cen­tre, which pro­vides sup­port for those will lim­ited fi­nan­cial means, and will take place at 8 p.m. En­try is free although a do­na­tion of €5 is sug­gested with all pro­ceeds go­ing to Liv­ing Life. The pro­gramme is a mix of Euro­pean and Amer­i­can com­posers and also in­cludes spir­i­tu­als and folk songs along with tra­di­tional Ir­ish mu­sic per­formed on fid­dle, uil­leann pipes and bouzouki. The singers are aged 18-21 and will be vis­it­ing County Wick­low as part of first time tour to Ire­land. Previous tours have taken the Cham­ber Singers to Ger­many, the Czech Repub­lic, Aus­tria, Spain and Por­tu­gal, Eng­land, and most re­cently to Greece.

‘We are de­lighted to be sup­port­ing the Liv­ing Life Coun­selling Cen­tre with our con­cert’ said Dr Ti­mothy Coker , the choir’s direc­tor.
