Food and wine fundraiser for Down Syn­drome Wick­low

Martello head chef Karl Clarke took the lead at the seafront venue last Thurs­day night, with a food demon­stra­tion for Down Syn­drome Wick­low.

The food and wine evening was held as a fundraiser for the lo­cal cause.

The event was a huge suc­cess, if a lit­tle messy with pizza dough to­wards the end. There was a full house for the event, with foot­ball le­gend Damien Duff among those to en­joy the demon­stra­tion and taste the food

Down Syn­drome Wick­low pro­vides sup­port and in­for­ma­tion to fam­i­lies with a child, teen or adult with Down syn­drome.

Their goal is to sup­port our mem­bers with Down syn­drome to achieve their full po­ten­tial by fa­cil­i­tat­ing their phys­i­cal, men­tal and so­cial devel­op­ment through the pro­vi­sion of sup­ple­men­tal sup­port and as­sis­tance to them and their fam­i­lies.

They also co­or­di­nate ac­tiv­i­ties such as yoga, mu­sic and cy­cling. The group re­cently or­gan­ised ac­tiv­i­ties to Kid­zone and to Dublin Zoo to celebrate World Down Syn­drome Day.

Chair­per­son Jen Rushe was among those to at­tend last Thurs­day’s event.
