TAE KWON DO

Tae Kwon Do is the art of self de­fense that orig­i­nated in Korea. It is rec­og­nized as one of the old­est forms of mar­tial arts in the world, reach­ing back over 2, 000 years. The name was se­lected for its ap­pro­pri­ate de­scrip­tion of the art: Tae (foot), Kwon (hand), Do (art). Classes for adults and chil­dren at the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre, to book call Paul at 087 2484570.

FIT2FIGHT

As part of the Beal­taine Fes­ti­val we are cel­e­brat­ing cre­ativ­ity in older age to­gether at the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre and one of our events will be an af­ter­noon tea dance on Sun­day, May 22, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with mu­sic from the Wick­low Man and hosted by Laragh Glen­dalough Ac­tive Re­tire­ment as­so­ci­a­tion. Re­fresh­ments will be provided.

LARAGH IT CEN­TRE

Our next Ben­e­fit 4 will be start­ing shortly an 8 hr course over 4 weeks for only €20 (if you are over 65 it’s free) you will learn In­ter­net safety, Email, On­line bank­ing, pay­ing mo­tor tax and trans­fer­ring pho­tos to your com­puter. We also have one to one classes for peo­ple who don’t want to be in a class and have their own spe­cific com­puter needs for one hour €15. Equal Skills: Is for those with no ex­pe­ri­ence of com­put­ers and In­ter­net this is a cer­ti­fied course €200.

ECDL: This course es­tab­lishes a stan­dard for ev­ery­one who uses a com­puter in ei­ther a pro­fes­sional or per­sonal ca­pac­ity. It is a cer­tifi­cate that ver­i­fies com­pe­tence in com­puter use, mak­ing the holder read­ily mo­bile within Ire­land and In­ter­na­tion­ally.

PAR­ISH SALE

Cen­tre, Laragh from 10 a.m. to 3.45 p.m. All groups and in­di­vid­u­als who have an in­ter­est in pro­mot­ing and par­tic­i­pat­ing in ac­tiv­i­ties that en­hance the life of Older peo­ple in Co Wick­low are en­cour­aged to at­tend.

The AGM will re­port on the Net­work’s ac­tiv­i­ties for the past year and they also wel­come the op­por­tu­nity to pro­vide in­for­ma­tion for those in at­ten­dance on the Age Friendly Pro­gramme and the pro­posed changes to the struc­ture of the Net­work.

At about 11.45 a.m. it is hoped to have an open fo­rum with the five Wick­low TDs, how­ever this can­not be fi­nalised till closer to the AGM due to cur­rent po­lit­i­cal un­cer­tainty. Fol­low­ing the morn­ings for­mal­i­ties a light lunch will be served at 1 p.m. af­ter which the ‘Wick­low Man’ will pro­vide mu­sic to dance to. For more in­for­ma­tion con­tact Gar­van 0404 20208.

SHAKE-UP DAY

You are cor­dially in­vited to at­tend SHAKE-UP DAY at the Brock­agh Cen­tre, Laragh on Thurs­day, June 2, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. cof­fee from 10.30 a.m. light lunch at 1 p.m. Scidils 11 a.m., Flisks mid­day and Lob­bers 12.30 p.m.

County Wick­low needs to form a team this year. (DCU Satur­day, June 11). Previous Mem­bers will at­test to the so­cia­ble, vig­or­ous and full-on en­er­getic ex­pe­ri­ence en­joyed by play­ing the Games against 32 other county teams. Team play­ers turn up at the Brock­agh each year and try their luck in be­ing picked for the team again.

Come along and take on these sea­soned play­ers and try to in­ject a bit of com­pe­ti­tion for places. There are 9 places on the team with each player play­ing all 3 games (new for­mat this year).
