Barry Levinson’s 1996 crime drama is a compellingly dark and hard-hitting study of institutional abuse.

Brad Pitt and Jason Patric lead as two friends who plan to get even with the school guards who raped them and members of their childhood gang 15 years before.

Kevin Bacon, Robert de Niro and Dustin Hoffman also star.

The film is based on Lorenzo Carcaterra’s 1995 novel of the same name.

‘Shakes’ Carcaterra, Thomas ‘ Tommy’ Marcano, Michael Sullivan, and John Reilly are childhood friends in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City in the mid-1960s.

In the summer of 1967, their lives take a turn when they nearly kill a man after pulling a prank, and are sent to a boys’ home.
