Kill­rud­dery to host pi­anist Goode as part of fes­ti­val

PI­ANIST Richard Goode will play at Kill­rud­dery House on Satur­day, June 11, as part of the 2016 Great Music in Ir­ish Houses fes­ti­val.

Fol­low­ing his sen­sa­tional début per­for­mance in 2014, iconic Amer­i­can pi­anist Richard Goode re­turns to the fes­ti­val where au­di­ences will be treated to his in­ter­pre­ta­tions of the last three pi­ano sonatas of Schu­bert.

Lauded as a true pi­anist’s pi­anist, Goode is de­servedly recog­nised as one of the mod­ern greats and the beau­ti­ful Or­angery at Kill­rud­dery pro­vides the per­fect set­ting for this much-an­tic­i­pated con­cert.

The fes­ti­val features a line-up of cel­e­brated Ir­ish and in­ter­na­tional artists, per­form­ing in a va­ri­ety of won­der­ful venues over six days from June 7 to 12.

Great Music in Ir­ish Houses is a unique fes- tival that will ex­cite au­di­ences with an ar­ray of per­for­mances fea­tur­ing works from il­lus­tri­ous com­posers in­clud­ing Bach, Haydn, Schu­bert, Shostakovich and Re­ich. The 2016 fes­ti­val also presents a day-long se­ries of con­certs to mark the 400th an­niver­sary of the death of Wil­liam Shake­speare, whose works have in­spired com­posers through­out the cen­turies.

For 46 years, Great Music in Ir­ish Houses has en­riched Ire­land’s cul­tural cal­en­dar with a com­bi­na­tion of stun­ning per­for­mances against beau­ti­ful and in­trigu­ing back­drops in­clud­ing the Na­tional Botanic Gar­dens, the Chapel Royal in Dublin Cas­tle and the Dublin Writ­ers’ Mu­seum and new for 2016, The GPO and the Casino Marino.
