Teenager Emma Byrne has won the chance of a life­time with a schol­ar­ship to the Orkester Efter­skolen in Holest­bro in West Den­mark.

Emma (16) is a vi­o­lin stu­dent of Bray Mu­sic Cen­tre.

She will spend her Tran­si­tion Year in Holest­bro on the or­ches­tra pro­gramme where she will be­come a mem­ber of a sym­phony or­ches­tra.

She will have a taste of what it is like to be a pro­fes­sional mu­si­cian and will also be spend­ing some time learn­ing the Dan­ish lan­guage and about Dan­ish cul­ture.

Emma stud­ied vi­o­lin with Tracy Pla­vans and Lucy Perkins at Bray Mu­sic Cen­tre and was a mem­ber of the Bray and Grey­stones Youth Or­ches­tra and the Dublin Youth Or­ches­tra.

‘It is a great achieve­ment and we wish her all suc­cess,’ said a spokesman for the school.

The Bray res­i­dent is a stu­dent at Loreto sec­ondary school.

For over 30 years the Bray Mu­sic Cen­tre has of­fered high stan­dards of tu­ition with ex­cel­lent re­sults. The school pro­vides a com­pre­hen­sive range of cour­ses in mu­sic for chil­dren and adults at the Florence Road cam­pus.
