No funds for Delgany scheme

Bray People - - NEWS -

THERE IS NO FUNDING at this time to complete the NTA project in Delgany Village. This information followed a notice of motion by Cllr Jennifer Whitmore requesting an update on this, as well as Chapel Road and Kilcoole Road projects.

The council said that it will continue to use internal resources to bring the project to public consultation. It said that there is a need to finalise a decision regarding the widening of footpath on the main road either with the installation of traffic lights to reduce road to single lane to enable this widening or acquisition of additional lands to widen the road.

‘We have gained funding to widen the footpath along a section of Chapel Road for 2016. Difficult to put timelines on this as landowners’ agreements dependant but would be ideal to construct during the summer holidays. Initial discussions were relatively positive but need to move towards agreements and finalise costings. It is planned that this would be constructed using the WCC direct labour section so no time delays with procurement.’

Funding has been allocated for the Kilcoole Road footpath scheme, but landowners’ agreements are under way. Construction is expected to start late in 2016.
