Rathdrum Commemoration Garden will be officially opened on Wednesday, June 22, at 6 p.m. The Garden has had extra landscaping and is a very attractive addition to the Park. Located close to the Parnell Monument there is no doubt that Parnell would approve of honouring the people of 1916.
The opening will be carried out by Rossa O’Briain, a close relation of Eamon Ceannt who was one of the signatures of the Proclamation of 1916. This event is coinciding with the meeting of Co. Wicklow Municipal Council which will take place in the RDA. Hall, Rathdrum.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Fun Day which was to take place at St Colman’s Hospital last Sunday had to be cancelled. The Patients Benefit committee extend their apologies for any inconvenience caused. HANNAH MEMORIAL SHOW
Wicklow Vintage Club by kind permission of Rathdrum Rugby club are proud to present the Hannah O’Byrne Memorial Show and Fun Day on Sunday, June 12, starting at midday in Rathdrum Rugby Grounds. The list of events include car boot sale, Bonny Baby Show, Bottle Stall, Wheel-of-Fortune, Hidden Treasure, Cake Sale, etc. A Raffle will also take place on the day. All Vintage Classic Cars, Trucks, Tractors, Motor Cycles welcome. Entry by donation at the Gate in aid of Rathdrum Cancer Support Group and Friends of Wicklow Community Care. This will be a big day of fun and games for all the family.

Last week’s meeting of Rathdrum Development Association passed a vote of sympathy to the husband, family and friends of May Battle who passed away recently.
ROGER CASEMENT LECTURE
In the final Lecture of the 1916 series Rathdrum Historical Society will present a Lecture by Angus Mitchell, the renowned biographer of Sir Roger Casement (who has a family connection in Croneroe, Ashford, now Bel-Air Hotel).
In this Lecture historian Angus Mitchell will seek to explain some of the underlying contradictions distinguishing Casement the man from Casement the myth. The Lecture will take place in Avondale Community College on Monday, June 13, at 8 p.m. and all are welcome.

The Tony Murphy golf classic in aid of St Colman’s Residential Care Centre, Rathdrum will take place on 24th, June 25 and 26 in Glenmalure Golf Club. This year will be GUI and non-GUI and Ladies categories and competition is Single Stableford. There will be prizes for Nearest the Pin on all Par three Holes and the Longest Drive, Ladies and Men. Presentation will take place in the clubhouse on Sunday night, June 26, with Music and Raffle. All support will be very welcome.
Over 50 participants were fascinated last week by the scenery from Downs Hill overlooking Kilpedder. They were taking part with the Rathdrum Walkers which had views as far away as Mourne Mountains.
This week the Group will bee at the Shay Elliott Memorial from which they will take on Kirikee Mountains. There are extraordinary views right around the route. Meeting points Rathdrum Memorial Park 7 p.m. and Shay Elliott car park 7.20 p.m.
This year Rathdrum Gymnastics Club will run their usual trampoline camps and gymnastics camps. Each will run for one week in July. These camps will run from July 4 to July 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Trampoline camp STRICTLY 6+ When these camps are full will can add another week starting on July 18. Cost is €100 (€85 for club members) per person per week with a reduction for second and subsequent brothers/sisters.
LITTLE PEOPLE CAMPS: The Little People gymnastics camps will run on the same dates, July 4 to July 11; these are for 3-fiveyear-olds only with a maximum of six children per coach. Class times 10 a.m.-midday. Cost is €65 per person per week (€55 for club members)
