War casualty remembered
Greystones war casualty Cpl John Thomas Behan is remembered in a book about Irishmen who served in the RAF during World War Two.
Cpl Behan was born in Greystones in 1916 and killed on board the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious on Jan- uary 10,1941. It came under sustained attack from German and Italian aircraft while escorting a Malta bound convoy past Sicily.
He is one of 22 individuals selected by John C Hewitt for inclusion in his book ‘Ireland’s Aviator Heroes of World War two ‘, published by Mercier Press which was launched recently by Air Vice Marshall Niven in Belfast.
