Emer­gency fund­ing for eight lo­cal schools

Eight schools across Co Wick­low have been al­lo­cated fund­ing for emer­gency works by the Min­is­ter for Ed­u­ca­tion and Skills, Richard Bru­ton.

Coláiste Bhride Carnew, St Kil­ian’s Com­mu­nity School in Bray, the Do­mini­can Col­lege in Wick­low town, New­town­moun-kennedy Pri­mary School, St Patrick’s Loreto Pri­mary School in Bray, St Catherine’s School in New­cas­tle, Wick­low Ed­u­cate To­gether NS in Wick­low town and Big­stone NS in Rathvilly have all be ap­proved for fund­ing un­der the Emer­gency Works Scheme.

The news has been wel­comed by Min­is­ter of State An­drew Doyle, who said that ‘ this fund­ing will al­low the schools to carry out roof re­pairs, im­prove ac­ces­si­bil­ity to the school and carry out struc­tural improvements.’

‘Each school is be­ing con­tacted di­rectly by the Depart­ment of Ed­u­ca­tion’s School Build­ing Unit with de­tails on the rel­e­vant projects and the fund­ing amounts awarded.

‘ Th­ese works are re­ally nec­es­sary for the eight schools in­volved and I warm­ing wel­come the al­lo­ca­tion of this fund­ing,’ he added.
