Emergency funding for eight local schools
Eight schools across Co Wicklow have been allocated funding for emergency works by the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton.
Coláiste Bhride Carnew, St Kilian’s Community School in Bray, the Dominican College in Wicklow town, Newtownmoun-kennedy Primary School, St Patrick’s Loreto Primary School in Bray, St Catherine’s School in Newcastle, Wicklow Educate Together NS in Wicklow town and Bigstone NS in Rathvilly have all be approved for funding under the Emergency Works Scheme.
The news has been welcomed by Minister of State Andrew Doyle, who said that ‘ this funding will allow the schools to carry out roof repairs, improve accessibility to the school and carry out structural improvements.’
‘Each school is being contacted directly by the Department of Education’s School Building Unit with details on the relevant projects and the funding amounts awarded.
‘ These works are really necessary for the eight schools involved and I warming welcome the allocation of this funding,’ he added.
