Another record for Arklow boxer

June 2003

Bray People - - NEWS -

ARKLOW boxer James Moore became the only boxer to win three successive four-nations titles in Cardiff last weekend. In his semi-final bout against James Way, he used his explosive punching to stop his opponent in the third round under the 20 point rule.

James conceded only one hit in this contest but unfortunately injured his right hand which left him with a tough battle against Greg McEwan from Scotland - the Commonwealth bronze medalist.

It was nip and tuck stuff in the final with the lead changing several times before McEwan was warned for holding. James Moore did all his scoring with his left jab and hook and at the end the scoreboard read 16 points to 15, giving the Arklow man his hat-trick of wins.

James, now on the high performance team, is preparing for contests in Hungary and Denmark before travelling to Finland for a training camp.
