ENNISKERRY

Junior Hurling League - St. Pat’s 5-21, Enniskerry/Kilmac 2-9 - With runaway leaders St Pat’s putting up big scores on all and sundry, it was always going to be a tall order for our lads in Dunbur last Wednesday night but to their credit they dug deep and put up a decent tally themselves, probably the most Pats have conceded in any individual game this year so far.

With both Micky and Mark out injured, Paul Kavanagh deputised in goals and acquitted himself well with safe handling and good puck outs, long and short to colleagues in space.

With Pat’s creating chances on the overlap, they went in 3-13 to 0-5 ahead at the break.

Enniskerry/Kilmac came into it more in the second period and with James Cahill punishing any fouling by the home side, two well taken Christy Fox goals gave us something to cheer. All in all a good all round performance against a very strong side which down the road come championship time will stand to us.

Team: Paul Kavanagh, John Flynn, Ross Lally, Bill Dickenson, Luke Dillon, Clinton Donoghue, Nathan Cronin, James Cahill (0-6) Ger Driver, John Driver (0-2), Christy Fox (2-1), Geoff Cahill, Jason Murray, Garret Power, Jason Doyle. Subs: Gary Kavanagh, Russell Giles, Barry Driver.

Tonight (Wednesday) we host Kiltegan in Enniskerry at 7.30pm.

Juvenile training continues each Friday at 7pm in the pitch with four to 10-year-olds catered for. All are very welcome, contact Damian at 086 1663415 for more information. done to all and thanks to Fergal Og for travelling up.

Well done to Aoife, Heather and the girls and thanks to Barndarrig for travelling up.

Lotto - June 13 - Winning numbers were 01, 20, 22, and 30. Bonus: 34. No jackpot winner. One match three receives €500. Jackpot on June 20 stands at €5, 700.

Thanks to all buyers and sellers of club lotto tickets for continued support.

Michael Freery Cup final - Our Under-17 Wicklow hurling team won a very exciting final in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny, against a very good Westmeath team on a score line of Wicklow 5-13, Westmeath 1-14 last Saturday.

Our very own clubman Brandon Scully was the corner-forward (15) on the day and put in great effort throughout the match setting up a score and was unlucky not to put the ball in the net in a scramble in the Westmeath goal.

Congrats to Brandon and Wicklow from all in Enniskerry GAA Club. Hopefully this win will give hurling in the county the boost it needs.

FERGAL ÓGS

Men’s hurling - Our men’s hurling team were due to play Shillelagh on Wednesday, but received a walkover.

Men’s football - Our men’s footballers were due to play Rathnew on Thursday but the match was postponed due to both teams having a shortage of players on the night.

Under-8s/Under-10s - Our Under-8s and Under-10s footballers played Enniskerry on Friday, with two cracking games of football had. There were standout performances from Joshua Temple and Theo McKenna from our Under-8s, while the Under-10s saw a few new faces in the team, with Cian Egan, Caitlin Egan and Adam Murray being in good form.

Many thanks to Enniskerry for hosting the match.

Under-12s - Our Under-12s hurling team were also in action on Friday evening, taking on Kilmacanogue.

Kilmacanogue were the first team to get on the score sheet, scoring a goal in the opening minutes.

It wasn’t long before Cian Byrne in midfield levelled the tie with a cracking goal, following a great show of individual skill. Kilmac got their first point of the game to edge themselves ahead with Byrne responding again with a long range point from play to reign in the Kilmac side.

Lance Wilde was impressive in midfield, winning his share of puck outs, and scored his first point from midfield to put Fergal Ógs ahead.

Both sides were evenly matched, trading score for score with Cian Byrne netting another brace of goals, accumalting a hattrick 20 minutes in.

When Kilmac looked for a reply, Jack Allen was on call to make a few vital saves, while Rhyss Wilde, Caitlin Doyle and Shane Buta were in fine form at the back with Buta scrapping for every ball and laying it off for Wilde and Doyle to drive it back up the pitch.

Oisin Allen was the third player in the midfield trio, and made some clever runs, while demonstrating an impressive workrate to win the ball back when not in possesion. The teams work rate ensured that Kilmacs ‘s scoring was kept to a minimum with two converted Cian Byrne frees sending the two teams in at half-time with nothing separating them.

In the second half, Jake Peare was unlucky not to bag a goal in the opening minutes, with Eleanor Gilroy, Ross McAteer and Saoirse O’Hanlon ready to pounce on any ball that came their way in the forward line.

Both teams continued to trade points, with neither being allowed to pull far ahead. Some good defensive pressure from both sides lead to a few wides in the latter stages, with some brilliant blocking and hooking denying scoring opportunities for both teams in the dying minutes.

By the final whistle, there was nothing between the two teams, with the tie ending all even.

Many thanks to Kilmacanogue for hosting the match.

The Fergal Ógs team: Jack Allen, Rhyss Wilde, Shane Buta, Caitlin Doyle, Lance Wilde, Cian Byrne, Jake Peare, Ross McAteer, Sam, Eleanor Gilroy, Saoirse O’Hanlon, Oisin Allen
