BELGIAN BLUES

Bray People - - FRONT PAGE -

A worried Seán O’Connell watching Ireland play Belgium in Jim Doyle’s pub in Bray on Saturday afternoon. The Boys in Green will face Italy tonight (Wednesday) in a match that could see them through to the next round – or packing their bags.

After a promising display against Sweden on Monday last, Irish eyes were certainly smiling as fans headed to the pubs and bars of north Wicklow to cheer on the Boys in Green on Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately, the Republic of Ireland team – not to mention the country as a whole – was brought back down to earth with a bump as a much-celebrated Belgian side put three past local hero Darren Randolph.

It’s very much a case of all or nothing now as O’Shea, Brady, Long and the rest of the team take on Italy tonight ( Wednesday, June 22) at 8 p.m. They need to put the Italians to the sword to try secure a spot in the next round or its ‘au revoir’ to Euro 2016 and France.
