Bray People - - NEWS -

THERE was a colourful, scented display of roses, sweet pea, summer flowers, fruit and vegetables at the Delgany & District Horticultural Society Rose Show last weekend.

Exhibitors came from as far afield as Ardee, Malahide and Balbriggan to exhibit at St Cronan’s school in Bray. The society, in association with Festina Lente, also held a competition to judge the allotments in their walled garden. The ‘small’ allotment was won by Wendy Molyneux, and the ‘medium’ allotment was won by Helen Rafferty. The ‘ large’ allotment was won by Denis Motherway who also won the Crawford Cup for best overall allotment. In the rose classes the blooms were outstanding with Shankill grower Trevor Stevenson winning the Powerscourt Gardens Family Award for the best large flowered single bloom, the Nancy O’Neill cup for a vase of three mixed large flowered roses and the Sam & Charlie Golden Cup for most points.
