A 24-YEAR- OLD man was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning in Bray having led Gardai on a high-speed pursuit starting in Crumlin earlier on Saturday night.
A Garda patrol car noticed a vehicle acting suspiciously on the Crumlin Road and flagged the driver to pull over. Instead they drove off at high speed.
The chase continued through Walkinstown and Tallaght, with several other Garda patrol cars joining the pursuit as it unfolded.
Back-up was provided by the Garda Traffic Corp and the Garda Air Sup- port Unit.
The suspect vehicle continued to drive in a dangerous and erratic manner and at full- speed along the N81 through Kilanarden, before taking the N11 in the direction of Wicklow.
The driver then proceeded to exit the N11 at junction six for Bray and crossed over into the Bray area.
They were finally apprehended on the Dargle Road at 12.15 a.m. when the motorist abandoned the vehicle after his progress was blocked by some road bollards.
He was pursued on foot and arrested a short time later.
A Garda Spokesperson said: ‘ the pursuit lasted for a considerable amount of time and covered a large distance.
‘ Thankfully no one was hurt or injured and the suspect was arrested. There were units from different Garda Districts involved and they all worked well together in apprehending the suspect.’
