Man air­lifted from Bray Head

A MAN in his eight­ies had to be trans­ported to hospi­tal on Sun­day af­ter suf­fer­ing a lac­er­a­tion to his head fol­low­ing a fall on Bray Head.

Glen of Imaal Red Cross Res­cue Team and Dublin Wick­low Moun­tain Res­cue Team were both alerted to the in­ci­dent at 11.59 a.m..

The pen­sioner had been out walk­ing when he fell and in­jured his head.

A mem­ber of the pub­lic led moun­tain res­cue per­son­nel to the man’s lo­ca­tion, where they treated his in­jury.

He was as­sessed by a moun­tain res­cue doc­tor be­fore be­ing es­corted a short dis­tance to a ve­hi­cle. He was then trans­ferred to a wait­ing am­bu­lance and brought to hospi­tal for fur­ther care.

Ir­ish Coast Guard Res­cue 117 was on standby dur­ing the in­ci­dent, but it was de­cided to trans­port the in­jured man to hospi­tal by am­bu­lance. The Grey­stones and Dun Laoghaire Coast Guard units as­sisted at the in­ci­dent site by pre­par­ing a land­ing site for the he­li­copter that was stand­ing by.
