Man airlifted from Bray Head
A MAN in his eighties had to be transported to hospital on Sunday after suffering a laceration to his head following a fall on Bray Head.
Glen of Imaal Red Cross Rescue Team and Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were both alerted to the incident at 11.59 a.m..
The pensioner had been out walking when he fell and injured his head.
A member of the public led mountain rescue personnel to the man’s location, where they treated his injury.
He was assessed by a mountain rescue doctor before being escorted a short distance to a vehicle. He was then transferred to a waiting ambulance and brought to hospital for further care.
Irish Coast Guard Rescue 117 was on standby during the incident, but it was decided to transport the injured man to hospital by ambulance. The Greystones and Dun Laoghaire Coast Guard units assisted at the incident site by preparing a landing site for the helicopter that was standing by.
