NEW­TOWN

Wick­low GAA is run­ning an on­line Foun­da­tion Foot­ball course which is cer­ti­fied over the next few weeks, reg­is­tra­tion and instructions can be found on http://learn­ing. gaa.ie. If you would like to com­plete or know of any­one who wants even to be in­volved in a mi­nor ca­pac­ity it is a use­ful course to com­plete. We are de­lighted to have a large num­ber of kids play­ing for our fast grow­ing ju­ve­nile sides, more kids means more helpers so if you feel you are in a po­si­tion to help in any ca­pac­ity our fu­ture GAA stars then please get in touch as it takes much more than a man­ager to run each team. We are still short of help for some of our teams and may not be able to en­ter teams at all ages due to lack of men­tors, please give Tom a ring on (087) 661 1480 or Shay at (087) 2699620 for more info.

Naomh Tea­gain hurl­ing wall is been named in hon­our of the late Peter Keogh on Fe­bru­ary 12th at 11 am in Kil­te­gan GAA grounds, There will be a plaque per­ma­nently placed on wall, also our four na­tional schools in the area will be tak­ing part in small hurl­ing game to mark this oc­ca­sion as schools hurl­ing was Peter’s pride and joy. The club would like to wish Tom Tay­lor the best of luck with his new role of se­nior men’s team man­ager for the 2017 sea­son. Awards - Well done to Molly Cullen who won Sports per­son of the year 2016, Martin Shan­non who won Young per­son of the year 2016 and Noreen Kee­gan Ka­vanagh who won Per­son of the year 2016 at the Bless­ing­ton Fo­rum/Bless­ing­ton Tidy Towns awards in Avon Ri on Thurs­day, 26 Jan­uary.

Con­grats - Con­grats to club men Con­all O’Gall­chob­hair (Cap­tain) and Ethan Cot­ter on their win with CBS Naas over Clane in the U16 South Le­in­ster A Schools Fi­nal at St. Con­leth’s Park last Wed­nes­day. Next up will be the Le­in­ster semi-fi­nal.

Le­in­ster GAA League Round 1 U13 and U15 – Hard luck to the U13’s who played away to Eden­derry on Sun­day 29 Jan­uary. Very com­pet­i­tive game up to the last quar­ter. Fi­nal score 4-12 to 3-04 and a BYE on 4 Fe­bru­ary.

The U15’s got 2017 up and run­ning with train­ing on Tues­day night with 21 in at­ten­dance. We played St. Peter’s Dun­boyne in the first cross county league and de­spite los­ing on a score line of 4-09 to 1-09 the lads put in a great per­for­mance. We won 14 out 20 of our own kick outs and 8 out 11 of the op­po­si­tion kick outs. Pos­ses­sion was turned over 15 times through tack­les or blocks. Scor­ers Danny SIlke Fether­son 1-04, Rob­bie Richard­son, Jack Leitnner, Claude Tounou, Mikey O’Toole and Daniel Cooney 0-1 each. The lads are away to Athy on 4 Fe­bru­ary at 2.30pm.

Strictly Bless­ing­ton Take 2 2017 - Train­ing com­menced on Mon­day, 30th Jan­uary with a launch in Avon Ri on Sun­day, 12 Fe­bru­ary at 7pm sharp where the dancers will find out who they will be paired with, what dance and video they will be do­ing. Club Player of the Year 2016: Se­nior Foot­baller Joey Kelly re­ceived the award for Club Player of the Year 2016 on Satur­day night at the Wick­low GAA All Star Awards. Joey has al­ways been a ster­ling player and is a role model for all the ju­ve­niles of our club. A mas­sive con­grat­u­la­tions and thank you for all your hard work, ded­i­ca­tion and scores Joey.

Se­nior Ladies: Train­ing re­sumes for all Se­nior Ladies on Sun­day 5th Fe­bru­ary at 10.30am sharp. Any new ladies wish­ing to play please at­tend on the 5th for train­ing, all wel­come.

Un­der 13 boys: The Un­der 13 squad got their sea­son off to a great start with a su­perb 3 point vic­tory over St Joseph’s Laois in the Le­in­ster league. This is the first time these young lads have played on a full pitch and their skill and team play was a joy to watch. Well done to the team man­age­ment and the par­ents who trav­elled with the squad.

Well done to the Un­der 14 county girls who de­feated Laois on Satur­day with our very own girls Kubu­rat Matomni and Lia Arnold. Lia scored the win­ning goal and Kubu­rat had a great game at wing back. Well done girls!!

Last Man Stand­ing Com­pe­ti­tion: We are run­ning a Last Man Stand­ing com­ple­tion for the Na­tional League, only €10 to en­ter with the chance to win €250. En­tries close on Fri­day the 3rd Fe­bru­ary. Please see our Face­book/ Twit­ter page to en­ter.

AGB

Reg­is­tra­tion Day will take place on Satur­day 11th Fe­bru­ary 2017 in the Bridge­wa­ter Shop­ping Cen­tre from 10am to 2pm. Club gear will be avail­able to pur­chase on the day. This year we are in­tro­duc­ing our new Subs App , this will al­low mem­bers to pay by card or cash at reg­is­tra­tion day and then at the pitch when train­ing. Also, this year we are run­ning a dis­count sys­tem, if you pay your full years Subs by the 1/5/17 you will get 10 train­ing ses­sions free. This is an op­tion avail­able to all mem­bers. If pref­ered we will still take the weekly sub from mem­bers who do not wish to pay the full amount up front. As our club house now has a bar li­cence we en­cour­age our adults to avail of our so­cial mem­ber­ship for €20 euro, and you can use the fa­cil­ity when it is open. This can also be hired for pri­vate events. A re­ceipt will be is­sued by email for all pay­ments made, so please en­sure your Team Ad­min has your email ad­dress. Any ques­tions, please come along to Reg Day and talk to your Ad­min. Club of­fi­cials will be avail­able on the day to help with any queries. We look for­ward to see­ing you all there.

AGB will host a Din­ner Dance on the 25th of Fe­bru­ary to cel­e­brate the great achieve­ments and wins of the Ladies and Men’s teams dur­ing 2016. Break­away will pro­vide the mu­sic on the night. AGBs Bal­ly­money Com­mit­tee will host a tra­di­tional night of Ir­ish mu­sic and danc­ing on the 16th of March 2017 in the AGB Club­house, Bal­ly­money, Shel­ton, Ark­low as part of the St. Pa­trick’s Day Cel­e­bra­tions. En­try fee is €5, and a great night of ceoil agus craic is promised.

AGBs Sports Pre­dic­tion Quiz for 2017 is now avail­able from all mem­bers of the Mens sec­tion in the club. En­try for this is €10 and the quiz can be ob­tained from any player or mem­ber in the Mens Sec­tion. Emails have been sent to all of last year’s en­trants. At the an­nual Wick­low GAA awards, Aaron Nu­gent won Ju­nior ‘A’ player of the year for 2016. Well done, Aaron. Our long serv­ing and loyal sup­porter, Tom McHugh, was pre­sented with a Life­time Achieve­ment award. Tom has been in­volved with Ash­ford GAA for many a year and this award was due recog­ni­tion of that fact. De­spite be­ing a Dubs sup­porter, ev­ery­one in our club was de­lighted with this news. Well done, Tom and may you have many more years fol­low­ing us.

Back to ba­sics. Train­ing con­tin­ues this Tues­day and Fri­day. Be on the pitch for 7.45 pm. We hope to field a Ju­nior team this year as well so any­body who would fancy a Thurs­day match is more than wel­come to at­tend. Our Ex­ec­u­tive Com­mit­tee met all the Sub Com­mit­tees last Thurs­day and a very use­ful night’s work en­sued.

LARAGH

With the new sea­son not far away from start­ing the se­nior lads went back train­ing last week. Any­one in­ter­ested in play­ing this year con­tact any player or turn up Tues­day night in the field for 7:30. We’re still look­ing for help with our ju­ve­nile teams. We’ll have our own teams up to U11’s. Our 13’s 15’s and 17’s will be play­ing with An Tochar and Avon­dale. We need men­tors to go with these play­ers if any­one in­ter­ested in go­ing with the 15’s and 17’s to Avon­dale con­tact any com­mit­tee mem­ber from the list be­low. This is our new ju­ve­nile com­mit­tee for the year ahead - Chair­man: Ea­monn Stackem; Sec­re­tary: Christo­pher Mer­ri­gan; Com­mit­tee Mem­bers: Richard Cullen, Liam Con­way, Wes­ley Atkin­son, Steven Driver, Thomas Cullen and Johnny White.
