The members of the Kilmacanogue History Society are eagerly looking forward to their next talk which will take place this Tuesday (seventh) in the Glenview Hotel at 8 p.m.
The guest speaker is Dr Éimear O’Connor, who will present a talk titled ‘Seán Keating Art Politics and Building the Irish Nation’. Seán Keating, who was born in 1889 and died in 1977, was an outstanding Irish artist who painted iconic images of the Irish War of Independence and the early industrial period in Ireland.
Dr O’Connor is an art historian, curator, lecturer, art advisor and archivist. Born in Dublin, she began her professional career as a visual artist she has exhibited in Ireland, Denmark and North America. Dr O’Connor studied art history in UCD and was awarded a PhD from the School of Art History and Cultural Policy in 2008 and she is now a Research Associate with TRIARC-Irish Art Research Centre (TCD).
