OFFICIALLY THE BEST EVENT IN THE COUNTRY!

THE BRAY AIR DISPLAY has been named as the winner of the Best Festival/Event Experience (Large) category in the prestigiou­s Irish Tourism Industry Awards.

The awards, known as the ‘ Tourism Oscars’, took place last Friday night in the Clayton Hotel.

Minister for Tourism Shane Ross was on hand to present the Waterford Crystal trophies to winners at the gala event.

‘We’re delighted and honoured that the Bray Air Display has been chosen as the winner of the highly respected “Best Event” at this year’s Irish Tourism Industry Awards,’ said air display director Mick Glynn.

‘Bray Air Display is County Wicklow’s biggest tourism event and it’s great that its significan­t contributi­on to Irish tourism is recognised.

‘We’ve worked hard to ensure that our event provides the best possible experience for visitors and will continue to do so. It’s wonderful that our efforts have been acknowledg­ed in this way.

‘We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past 12 years. We’re overwhelme­d by the love and support shown to us. It’s much appreciate­d!

‘Our sincere gratitude to main sponsors the Irish Aviation Authority, Wicklow County Council, Bray.ie, statutory bodies, An Garda Síochána, Civil Defence, Order of Malta, participat­ing aircraft, airlines, The Irish Air Corps, our partners and especially our volunteers who are an essential part of the Bray Air Display. This award is dedicated to them. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve their community.

‘We look forward to welcoming the many visitors back to Bray in July for the 12th Annual Bray Air Display.’

Adjudicati­on on the awards was carried out by an independen­t panel of experts, chaired by Maurice Pratt, the Chairman of the Uniphar Group and including Noirin Hegarty, Operations Director from Lonely Planet; Philip Browne, Chief Executive of the IRFU; Simon McKeever, Chief Executive, the Irish Exporters’ Associatio­n and Marian O’Gorman, Chief Executive, the Kilkenny Group.

This year’s display will take place over two days, July 22 and 23, with the full lineup and events to be released in the coming months.
