And they’re off! Training for all playing members commences on this Wednesday evening, February 8 on the Fairgreen at 8 pm sharp.

The newly appointed management team of Noel Murphy, Declan Nolan and David Cullen will be hoping for an encouragin­g turnout and full co-operation for the first session and going forward.

Well done to playing members Ray Murphy, Gary Murphy, Paddy Byrne, David Whelan and Keith Byrne who is part of the management team of the local Kerry Foods football team who travelled to Newcastle Dublin on Thursday of last week and turned in an impressive display when defeating Aer Lingus on a 0-14 to 0-6 scoreline in the Inter Firms Leinster junior football final.

Encouragin­g to see some club stalwarts among the sizeable K/F support; spotted in the crowd were Francis Simpson, Enda Foley, Laurie Cullen, Declan Nolan,Kieran Byrne ,Conor Byrne and Glen Cullen. Mary Byrne also made the long journey and provided the post match tae and ham sandwiches (Denny Ham needless to say) from the car boot just like the good auld days.

The team now advance to the All-Ireland semi-final where they will encounter the Ulster Champions, the game is provisiona­lly pencilled in for Saturday, February 25, with Omagh, Co.Tyrone the proposed venue, both date and venue subject to confirmati­on.

Congrats to all involved on progress so far and lets hope the journey continues.

Committee members, players and supporters your allocation of tickets for the 2017 GAA national club draw should at this stage have been returned sold, the draw will take place on Wednesday, March 8. Some fantastic prizes on offer here including the top prize of a new Opel Corsa, 100 per cent of all monies raised goes to your local club.

Tickets costing €10 are available from anyone connected with the club, your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

The combinatio­n drawn in the club lotto draw on Monday, January 23, was 2, 6, 11, and 24, there was no jackpot or match three winners.

Lucky dip winners: Daniel Behan, Quarry St., Myra Nolan, Raheengran­ey and Deborah/ Terry Brogan, Coolgreane­y, Gorey, shared €100. Francis Simpson won the promoter’s prize . The next draw with the jackpot at €2,400 was scheduled for Monday last, February 6, results will be available in local business outlets on Tuesday morning also on the club Facebook page and in next week’s club notes.
