And they’re off! Train­ing for all play­ing mem­bers com­mences on this Wed­nes­day evening, Fe­bru­ary 8 on the Fair­green at 8 pm sharp.

The newly ap­pointed man­age­ment team of Noel Mur­phy, De­clan Nolan and David Cullen will be hop­ing for an en­cour­ag­ing turnout and full co-op­er­a­tion for the first ses­sion and go­ing for­ward.

Well done to play­ing mem­bers Ray Mur­phy, Gary Mur­phy, Paddy Byrne, David Whe­lan and Keith Byrne who is part of the man­age­ment team of the lo­cal Kerry Foods foot­ball team who trav­elled to New­cas­tle Dublin on Thurs­day of last week and turned in an im­pres­sive dis­play when de­feat­ing Aer Lin­gus on a 0-14 to 0-6 score­line in the In­ter Firms Le­in­ster ju­nior foot­ball fi­nal.

En­cour­ag­ing to see some club stal­warts among the size­able K/F sup­port; spot­ted in the crowd were Francis Simp­son, Enda Fo­ley, Lau­rie Cullen, De­clan Nolan,Kieran Byrne ,Conor Byrne and Glen Cullen. Mary Byrne also made the long jour­ney and pro­vided the post match tae and ham sand­wiches (Denny Ham need­less to say) from the car boot just like the good auld days.

The team now ad­vance to the All-Ire­land semi-fi­nal where they will en­counter the Ul­ster Cham­pi­ons, the game is pro­vi­sion­ally pen­cilled in for Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 25, with Omagh, Co.Ty­rone the pro­posed venue, both date and venue sub­ject to con­fir­ma­tion.

Con­grats to all in­volved on progress so far and lets hope the jour­ney con­tin­ues.

Com­mit­tee mem­bers, play­ers and sup­port­ers your al­lo­ca­tion of tick­ets for the 2017 GAA na­tional club draw should at this stage have been re­turned sold, the draw will take place on Wed­nes­day, March 8. Some fan­tas­tic prizes on of­fer here in­clud­ing the top prize of a new Opel Corsa, 100 per cent of all monies raised goes to your lo­cal club.

Tick­ets cost­ing €10 are avail­able from any­one con­nected with the club, your sup­port would be greatly ap­pre­ci­ated.

The com­bi­na­tion drawn in the club lotto draw on Mon­day, Jan­uary 23, was 2, 6, 11, and 24, there was no jack­pot or match three win­ners.

Lucky dip win­ners: Daniel Be­han, Quarry St., Myra Nolan, Ra­heen­graney and Deb­o­rah/ Terry Bro­gan, Cool­gre­aney, Gorey, shared €100. Francis Simp­son won the pro­moter’s prize . The next draw with the jack­pot at €2,400 was sched­uled for Mon­day last, Fe­bru­ary 6, re­sults will be avail­able in lo­cal busi­ness out­lets on Tues­day morn­ing also on the club Face­book page and in next week’s club notes.
