The an­nual ser­vice of Prayer for Chris­tian Unity takes place on Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 15, at 8 p.m. in Bray Methodist Church, Florence Road, Bray. Theme: Rec­on­cil­i­a­tion: The Love of Christ Com­pels Us.


Prayer Op­por­tu­ni­ties: Mon­day Prayer Group with Ex­po­si­tion – The Pres­bytery at 8 p.m.; Lec­tio Div­ina Group on Tues­day from 11 a.m. to mid­day; Bray Gath­er­ing Charis­matic Prayer Group in the Lit­tle Flower Hall, Wed­nes­day at 8 p.m.; Silent Holy Hour in the Side Chapel on Fri­day from 11 a.m. to mid­day; Taizé style Holy Hour on the first Fri­day of ev­ery month at 7.30 p.m.

The Cof­fee Dock: Is open each morn­ing Mon­day to Fri­day af­ter 10 a.m. Mass and on Sun­days af­ter the 10.30 a.m. Mass. Tea, cof­fee, bis­cuits and oc­ca­sion­ally cake is served. The Cof­fee Dock also of­fers a great source of com­mu­nity and friend­ship for peo­ple within the parish and out­side the parish. We would like to ex­tend a warm wel­come to all. Come in for a chat and a cuppa and per­haps make new ac­quain­tances while you are there.

Vol­un­teers are needed to help in the Cof­fee Dock Mon­day to Fri­day morn­ings. The com­mit­ment is from 9.30 a.m. to ap­prox­i­mately 11.30 a.m.. One morn­ing ev­ery sec­ond week. Please phone Philippa at 087 1442969 if you think you can help.

World Day of the Sick 2017: The Dublin Dioce­san Cel­e­bra­tion of World Day of the Sick 2017 will take place this Satur­day and Lour­des Pil­grim­age – Septem­ber 7 to Septem­ber 12: The parish will once again join the Dioce­san Pil­grim­age to Lour­des in Septem­ber. The fully in­clu­sive price is €725pps. Sin­gle Sup­ple­ment €150 – Lim­ited Sin­gle Rooms Avail­able. In­stall­ments ac­cepted. Fi­nal pay­ment is due first week of July 2017. Garda Vet­ting: The task of re-vet­ting all in­volved in parish min­istries will be­gin in the com­ing weeks. This is to com­ply with le­gal re­quire­ments.

Lour­des 2017: Book­ings for our parish pil­grim­age to Lour­des are now be­ing taken in the Villa and a Church Gate Col­lec­tion will take place this week­end in aid of our Lour­des fund. Your sup­port is greatly ap­pre­ci­ated.

Bethany Be­reave­ment: The Bethany Be­reave­ment Sup­port Group would like to thank ev­ery­one who con­trib­uted to their re­cent Church gate col­lec­tion. A to­tal of €675.25 was raised.

Per­pet­ual Ado­ra­tion: To pro­mote and con­tinue this won­der­ful gift of Per­pet­ual Ado­ra­tion in our parish, we are ap­peal­ing for your help. If you can do one hour a week, please con­tact the Sac­risty.

Prayer Cards: Prayer cards for the World Meet­ing of fam­i­lies are avail­able at the back of the church for any­one who would like to take one.

Memo­rial Plates: It has been a long church tra­di­tion to have a plate fit­ted to a seat in mem­ory of a loved one. Full de­tails re­gard­ing such plates are avail­able from the parish of­fice. (€250 do­na­tion to­wards the run­ning costs of our Church.)

Queen of Peace Ad­ven­ture Youth Club has had a very busy time so far this year. Two night time walks have been or­gan­ised. One day­time and one night time moun­tain climbs have been en­joyed, along with foot­ball and swim­ming ses­sions.

Im­me­di­ate fu­ture plans in­clude a par­ents meet­ing night, and a tal­ent com­pe­ti­tion. The club has a very ded­i­cated 12 per­son team of lead­ers and com­mit­tee mem- bers who are all un­paid com­mit­ted vol­un­tary work­ers.


Bray Divers wel­come new mem­ber David McKeon. Dave is a well known an­tique bot­tle col­lec­tor, and he hopes to ex­tend his hobby into the un­der­wa­ter world. He ex­pects to be a diver within the next few weeks, and fol­low­ing on­wards he will en­deav­our to en­cour­age other bot­tle col­lec­tors to join him.

Cur­rently the club is run­ning courses, and any­one who would like to learn to dive may get de­tails by call­ing Albert at 087 6756439.

Last night (Tues­day) the first com­mit­tee meet­ing of the new com­mit­tee elected by mem­bers of the Bray Cualann His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, the lo­cal his­tory so­ci­ety for Bray and North Wicklow, at the re­cent Jan­uary AGM took place at which the of­fi­cer po­si­tions of the so­ci­ety were filled.

The Fe­bru­ary meet­ing of the Bray Cualann His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will take place on Fe­bru­ary 16 at 8 p.m. in the Royal Ho­tel, Bray, at which James Scan­nell will re­veal the re­mark­able story of ‘Cap­tain Her­mann Go­ertz: The Ger­man WW2 Gatherer, who landed in full mil­i­tary uni­form.’ All wel­come to at­tend. an­nual Mem­ber­ship of the Bray Cualann His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety is €15 and cov­ers two Adults+2 Chil­dren, and can be taken out at any meet­ing of the so­ci­ety. Ad­mis­sion to lec­tures is €5 vis­i­tors – mem­bers free.

In the mean­time mem­bers of the Bray Cualann His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety are in­vited to tonight’s (Wed­nes­day) 6 p.m. meet­ing of the Old Dublin So­ci­ety at which Ms. Ellen Mur­phy, Se­nior Ar­chiv­ist, will present her lec­ture ‘Dublin’s Sport­ing Her­itage and the devel­op­ment of Dublin City Sport Archive’ in the Con­fer­ence Room of Dublin City Li­brary and Archive, 138 – 144 Pearse Street, Dublin 2.
