Eir lines cut in rob­bery

AP­PROX­I­MATELY 300 homes and busi­nesses were left with­out phone and broad­band ser­vices in Baltinglass for more than 24 hours re­cently when a line was cut dur­ing the course of an at­tempted rob­bery.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred some time late Sun­day night into Mon­day morn­ing of last week.

A spokesper­son for the ser­vice provider con­firmed that there was an in­ci­dent that re­sulted in a loss of ser­vice to some cus­tomers.

‘Eir ca­bles were cut dur­ing an at­tempted rob­bery out­side the Su­per­Valu in Baltinglass. This re­sulted in loss of ser­vice for ap­prox­i­mately 300 phone and broad­band cus­tomers. eir apol­o­gises to cus­tomers who have been af­fected by this in­ci­dent.’

Af­ter a re­pair crew was dis­patched to the site, the line was re­paired later that day and ser­vice was re­stored to all cus­tomers by 6.30 p.m. on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 6.
