Eir lines cut in robbery
APPROXIMATELY 300 homes and businesses were left without phone and broadband services in Baltinglass for more than 24 hours recently when a line was cut during the course of an attempted robbery.
The incident occurred some time late Sunday night into Monday morning of last week.
A spokesperson for the service provider confirmed that there was an incident that resulted in a loss of service to some customers.
‘Eir cables were cut during an attempted robbery outside the SuperValu in Baltinglass. This resulted in loss of service for approximately 300 phone and broadband customers. eir apologises to customers who have been affected by this incident.’
After a repair crew was dispatched to the site, the line was repaired later that day and service was restored to all customers by 6.30 p.m. on Monday, February 6.
