Masked men break into home

A MASKED duo who broke into the home of an el­derly woman, turned and fled af­ter com­ing across the bed-rid­den lady.

On Sun­day night, two men gained ac­cess to the house at the Bel­mont es­tate through the back door. They came face-to-face with the el­derly oc­cu­pant of the prop­erty, who is aged in her late-80s.

They very quickly turned around and left, ac­cord­ing to De­tec­tive In­spec­tor Frank Keenaghan of Bray Garda Sta­tion. The men did not take any­thing and while she got a fright, the woman was not in­jured dur­ing her or­deal.

Det Insp Keenaghan said that it all hap- pened very quickly. He has urged any­one who saw any­thing in the area to get in touch, in par­tic­u­lar any ve­hi­cles parked in un­usual cir­cum­stances where you wouldn’t nor­mally ex­pect to see cars parked.

Mean­while, a bur­glary took place the pre­vi­ous Thurs­day, Fe­bru­ary 9, at Wood­brook Lawn in Bray. A youth was dis­turbed by the the home­owner and ran off.

The bur­glar made off with some items in­clud­ing jew­ellery and cash.
