Sean O Cualain’s engaging documentary tells the story of Dundalk racing driver Tommy Byrne’s all-too-brief Formula One career. In the early 1980s Tommy cut his teeth driving local stock car races before moving to England to compete in Formula Ford. His skill, fearlessness and knack of getting the best out of his car quickly got him noticed, as he won race after race and just four years later he was given his chance to compete in Formula One. He got a test drive in the McLaren team and clocked the quickest time to that point by a McLaren on the Silverstone track. However no offer of a drive followed and he wound up driving for the Theodore team. He left Formula One and made a name for himself in the American Racing Series.
