We held our AGM on Satur­day evening in Bal­li­na­clash. Con­grat­u­la­tions to our county hurlers who were rocked by a Mayo goal just be­fore half­time to leave the half-time score 1-11 to 0-08 in Aughrim.

A good show­ing in the sec­ond half saw the hurlers vic­to­ri­ous over Mayo 2-17 to 1-17.

Well done to our own lads Eoghan O’Ma­hony, John Con­nors, Andy O’Brien, Ge­orge O’Brien, Gerry Con­nors, Michael Con­nors, Christy Moore­house, coach Michael Neary and S+C Shay Dunne on an­other win.

Af­ter their re­cent win against Car­low, our ladies county team made the long trip to the north west to play Fer­managh on Sun­day at 2pm in St Pa­trick’s GAA in Don­agh (close to En­niskillen).

Con­grat­u­la­tions to all in­volved in an ex­cel­lent re­sult up North with the fi­nal score­line of 3-17 to 1-06 hav­ing led at half­time 2-10 to 0-05 es­pe­cially our own Ni­amh McGet­ti­gan and se­lec­tor Michael Ka­vanagh.

St. Pat’s and the Camo­gie As­so­ci­a­tion are run­ning the very suc­cess­ful “Come Hurl with Me” pro­gramme for par­ent and daugh­ters in the hall, Dun­bur.

This is for girls born in 2007/2008/2009/2010. Hel­mets and hurls will be avail­able on the night for those who are try­ing camo­gie for the first time!

The county fi­nal of the Scór Sin­sear (Se­nior/O.17) Per­for­mance and Quiz com­pe­ti­tion will take place in St Pa­trick’s GAA club­house on Fri­day, March 3.

The Per­for­mance (Ceili Danc­ing, Set Danc­ing, In­stru­men­tal Groups, Bal­lad Groups, Recita­tion, Sketch/Dra­matic Group Act and Solo Singing) Fi­nal will com­mence at 8pm with the quiz fi­nal be­gin­ning at 9pm.

St. Patricks GAA Club have launched the 2017 ver­sion of our Last Man Stand­ing fundrais­ing com­pe­ti­tion for our club. Hard luck to those of you who fell this week.

Na­tional Club Draw - Many thanks to all who sold or pur­chased tick­ets from the club for this year’s draw which takes place on March 8.This year was our best ever re­turn on ticket sales so well done all!

Adult foot­ball - Men’s foot­ballers are train­ing on Tues­day and Thurs­day nights at 8pm un­der new trainer Tom Tay­lor. We played a challenge game last Sun­day morn­ing v Kilmac and it proved an ex­cel­lent work­out in prepa­ra­tion for our up­com­ing Divi­sion 3 league cam­paign with a good over­all team per­for­mance with young­sters Mark Mullen, Alan Acres and Rhys Cope all do­ing well and the ever­green Craig Wil­liams hav­ing the dis­tinc­tion of claim­ing the first ‘Mark’ in Pairc Na Sil­logue un­der the new rul­ing along with Gary Ka­vanagh show­ing age is just a num­ber scor­ing a fine point af­ter his dummy run on his young­ster op­po­nent!

The new Ju­nior ‘B’ cham­pi­ons will play a prac­tice game on Satur­day at 3 pm in Knockananna. Clonee from Wex­ford will pro­vide the op­po­si­tion.

Best of luck to all in­volved with the lo­cal Kerry Foods fooball team (four com­bat­ants from our own club, Ray­mond Mur­phy, Gary Mur­phy, David Whe­lan and Paddy Byrne, plus Keith Byrne who is part of the man­age­ment team).

They travel to Gar­vahy, Co. Ty­rone, on Satur­day next, Fe­bru­ary 25, to take on Heron Bros. Builders rep­re­sent­ing Derry in the semi-fi­nal of the In­ter-Firms All-Ire­land foot­ball cham­pi­onship semi-fi­nal, throw-in is timed for 6pm. Bit of trav­el­ling in­volved here, but rest as­sured the team wont be lack­ing the bit of sup­port to help get them over the line, again all the best to all in­volved.

The com­bi­na­tion drawn in the club lotto draw on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 6, was 5, 10, 23, and 26. There was no jack­pot win­ner. Lil Be­han, Cor­ner House, Shillelagh, and Conor/Re­becca Byrne c/o Mary Byrne matched three num­bers and shared €100.

The un­der-14 camo­gie team played a friendly against Cuala, Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 18. A tougher prospect than our last out­ing, op­pos­ing a Dalkey side with a num­ber of strong ball win­ners.

Nev­er­the­less, we rolled up our sleeves. Cather­ine McGarry, Kaleigh Brod­er­ick and Ellen O’Do­herty stood out in the open­ing half for their tack­ling and brave spir­its.

In the sec­ond-half, Bray got more good scores with Aoife Cana­van, Ailbhe Whit­tle and Áine Far­rell giv­ing their all. In the end, Cuala won by a goal and a point de­spite the hec­tic ex­changes of the fi­nal 10 min­utes. Cluiche an-sásúil a bhí ann.
