At the launch of the 29th La Touche Legacy & 4th Fes­ti­val of His­tory in Grey­stones Golf Club Pro­fes­sor Michael Laf­fan Emer­i­tus Pro­fes­sor UCD de­liv­ered a ma­jor pa­per on the first Leader and Pres­i­dent of the new state W. T. Cos­grave.

Prior to the lec­ture for­mer Taoiseach Liam Cos­grave (now 97) son of W. T sent warm greet­ing to the sem­i­nar and very much ap­pre­ci­ated the tribute be­ing pro­vided by Michael Laf­fan on the work and times of his fa­ther.

Ge­orge Jones said he was de­lighted with the at­ten­dance on the night and he looked for­ward to large num­bers at­tend­ing on the last week­end in Septem­ber.

He also con­firmed that St Brigid’s Na­tional School would this year be pro­vid­ing the open­ing ex­hi­bi­tions and he thanked outgoing Prin­ci­ple St Kath­leen and her teach­ing col­leagues for their work in pre­par­ing this ex­hi­bi­tions.

The reg­u­lar Satur­day morn­ing mar­ket takes place at New­cas­tle Com­mu­nity Cen­tre.

The mar­ket will be on from 10.30 a.m. to 12 mid­day with fresh veg­eta­bles and pro­duce avail­able.
