Drink driver put off the road
A MAN who drove over the legal limit was disqualified from driving for three years and fined €800 at Wicklow District Court.
Simon Finney (28), Greenogue, Kimberley Road, Greystones, had the ban postponed to November 1.
Finney was driving at Cornagower East, Brittas Bay, Wicklow, on December 20, 2015, when he was found to have 50 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.
The court heard on Tuesday, July 18, that Finney had been out with a recently-divorced friend and they had too much to drink.
‘Was he celebrating or drowning his sorrows?’ asked Judge Alan Mitchell. The judge asked him to make an undertaking that he would not drive over the limit during the period of postponement.
