Video evidence comes to the rescue

Bray People - - SPORT -

VIDEO evidence is reported to have assisted St Patrick’s hurler Andy O’Brien in getting his 12-week suspension overturned by the Wicklow Hearings Committee last Friday evening in Joule Park, Aughrim.

O’Brien had been handed the hefty suspension by the Wicklow C.C.C. following an alleged altercation with linesman Mick Owens during the S.H.C. clash with Glenealy in Joule Park, Aughrim on July 16.

Referee John Keenan sent the talented O’Brien off on a straight red card on the advice of his linesman but the video evidence proved a major help in O’Brien’s appeal against the C.C.C. ruling and he was free to play for St Pat’s against Kiltegan the following day where he bagged 2-06 to help them to victory.

Not so fortunate was Terry Healy, who failed in his bid to have his one-match ban overturned following an incident with Glenealy’s Gavin Weir.
