Loreto Lour­des Trip: The Loreto Bray stu­dents who held a church gate col­lec­tion last Sun­day week raised a phe­nom­e­nal €1,656.93. Huge thanks to all who con­trib­uted.

Lour­des Col­lec­tion: The church gate col­lec­tion this Sun­day will be a spe­cial col­lec­tion to help bring a sick per­son to Lour­des. Please give gen­er­ously.

RCIA: The RCIA, which stands for Rite of Chris­tian Ini­ti­a­tion of adults, is a process through which non-bap­tised men and women en­ter the Catholic Church. It is also for those bap­tised in a dif­fer­ent faith tra­di­tion who wish to be­come Catholic, or bap­tised Catholic, but never con­firmed. The RCIA process fol­lows the an­cient prac­tice of the church and was re­stored by the Se­cond Vat­i­can Coun­cil as the nor­mal way adults pre­pare for bap­tism and con­fir­ma­tion. An­nual Bless­ing of Graves: Kil­macanogue on Sun­day, Au­gust 20, at 3 p.m.; Curtlestown on Sun­day, Au­gust 27, at 3 p.m.

Pil­grim­age to Knock: In prepa­ra­tion for the World Meet­ing of Fam­i­lies 2018, the of­fi­cial Launch will take place in Knock on Au­gust 21 this year. This date is the ex­act date of the ap­pari­tions in Knock and will also be the date of the com­mence­ment of cel­e­bra­tions next year.

At Holy Redeemer we are con­sid­er­ing a small pil­grim­age leav­ing from Our Church at 9 a.m. on the day. Arch­bishop Diar­muid Martin will be the Main cel­e­brant at the 3 p.m. Mass in the Basil­ica. Anoint­ing of the sick will di­rectly pre­cede this. We hope to leave Knock for home at 5 p.m. This Pil­grim­age will only take place if we have suf­fi­cient num­bers for a bus. Please leave your name in the par­ish of­fice if you are in­ter­ested in tak­ing part. We would en­cour­age fam­i­lies in par­tic­u­lar to join us on this spe­cial oc­ca­sion. St Fer­gal’s Par­ish Day Trip to Pa­trick Ka­vanagh Cen­tre: An out­ing to Mon­aghan will take place on Satur­day, Au­gust 19, from St Fer­gal’s Church, Bray. This trip will in­clude a visit to ‘The Pa­trick Ka­vanagh Cen­tre, In­niskeen Vil­lage. Prices for the trip will de­pend on the num­ber of peo­ple trav­el­ling. Monthly meet­ing of the Bray Cualann His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, the lo­cal his­tory so­ci­ety for Bray and North Wick­low, have now con­cluded and will re­sume again in Septem­ber in the Royal Ho­tel, Bray when the So­ci­ety’s au­tumn pro­gramme will com­mence.

Dublin, by Damien Burke, Ar­chiv­ist of the Irish Je­suit Ar­chives on ‘The Life of Fr Wil­lie Doyle, SJ’ Fr Doyle was born in Dalkey in 1873 and killed at the Third Bat­tles of Ypres on Au­gust 13, 1917, while serv­ing as a mil­i­tary chap­lain.
