Take­away driver was robbed at knife­point

Gar­daí in Bray in­ves­ti­gat­ing fright­en­ing hold-up along with al­leged as­sault and van­dal­ism

A DE­LIV­ERY DRIVER was robbed at knife­point in Bray last Friday – one of sev­eral in­ci­dents Bray gar­daí have had to tackle in re­cent days.

On Friday night at 11 p.m. the take­away driver was de­liv­er­ing food when a thief armed with a knife ap­proached the car and de­manded money, be­fore mak­ing off on foot.

The fol­low­ing evening at ap­prox­i­mately 6 p.m., two teenagers were as­saulted in the No­vara Av- enue area by a gang of men wear­ing bal­a­clavas. One of the in­jured teenagers was kept in hospi­tal overnight suf­fer­ing from con­cus­sion.

Mean­while, there was out­rage and dis­ap­point­ment as a num­ber of trees in the Peo­ple’s Park were de­stroyed overnight. The dis­cov­ery was made by lo­cals on Sun­day morn­ing and re­ported to both gar­daí and the coun­cil.

The driver was de­liv­er­ing take­away food to Rich­mond Hill in Fas­saroe.

When he pulled up and was still sit­ting in his car, he was ap­proached and threat­ened by an at­tacker who was car­ry­ing a knife and de­manded money.

The as­sailant took a sum of money from the driver, in­clud­ing his float and tips.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred at around 11 p.m. on Friday.

The driver was not in­jured in the fright­en­ing ex­change. The thief made off on foot.
