Cancer­course to­be­gin­with Pur­pleHouse Bray’sAware sup­port­group

Pur­ple House’s ‘Mov­ing Be­yond Cancer’ course will start on Oc­to­ber 17.

The course is for any­one one year or more post treat­ment and cov­ers adapt­ing to changes post-ill­ness, new per­spec­tives, build­ing self-es­teem, self care strate­gies and more.

This is a con­fi­den­tial, closed group, run by Pur­ple House coun­sel­lors and ther­a­pists. The course starts on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 18, from 7 p.m. in Pur­ple House, Bray. To book call 01 2866966. an­i­mals right up close in­clud­ing Santa’s deer (in­clud­ing Rudolph), pygmy goats, minia­ture don­keys, rab­bits and guinea pigs.

All the fam­ily will also en­joy meet­ing Robby the Christ­mas Robin with kids wildlife guru Dale Tread­well at Pow­er­scourt Gar­den Pavilion. Dale will be read­ing his chil­dren’s books ‘Robby the Christ­mas Robin’ and ‘Harry the Hedge­hog’ as part of fun in­ter­ac­tive Christ­mas ac­tiv­i­ties.

Men­tal health or­gan­i­sa­tion Aware­hosts a sup­port group ev­ery Wed­nes­day at 7.30 p.m. in the Villa Pacis Cen­tre, on the grounds of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Put­land Road in Bray.

Aware sup­port groups of­fer in­di­vid­u­als the op­por­tu­nity to talk openly about de­pres­sion, bipo­lar and other re­lated mood disor­ders and their im­pact.
