Seven cars in­volved in early-morn­ing col­li­sion

A MAN had to be cut from his car af­ter a seven car pile-up near New­town­moun­tkennedy on Mon­day.

The col­li­sion caused ma­jor dis­rup­tions for com­muters as part of the N11 was closed off for over two hours.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred at 6.45 a.m. on Mon­day morn­ing on the north­bound car­riage of the N11, shortly be­fore Junc­tion 12 at New­town­moun­tkennedy.

A man in his for­ties had to be cut from his ve­hi­cle and was trans­ported to St Vin­cent’s Hos­pi­tal. His in­juries aren’t considered life threat­en­ing.

Traf­fic was di­verted at Junc­tion 13 New­cas­tle be­fore the closed off sec­tion of the road was re­opened close to 9 a.m.
