An Arklow man found in possession of €200 of cannabis collected a fine of €300 at the District Court last week.
Jake Byrne of 19 Chestnut Grove was charged with being in possession of cannabis at Sea Road, Arklow on February 10, 2017.
He admitted that the drugs were for his own use and the court heard that he accepted ownership of it following a garda search of a vehicle.
Solicitor Pauric Hyland said that Byrne comes from a good family and has disassociated himself from a former circle of friends.
Judge Kennedy imposed a €300 fine but warned the defendant ‘you only get one bite of the cherry’ and said that he could be at risk of a custodial sentence if he re-offends.
