Disqualification for no insurance
A man who drove without insurance was attending to an emergency involving his child.
Timmy Kelly (26), 154 Mount Carmel Avenue, Wicklow, appeared in Bray District Court last Thursday. He was driving on the N11 at Glen of the Downs on July 6, 2017. The court heard that Kelly has never come to police attention before.
Solicitor Joe Maguire said that on the day in question, he had moved back to Wicklow. His partner rang and said the child had chickenpox, was distressed, and looking for their dad.
‘He foolishly drove,’ said Mr Maguire. ‘He regrets it very much and apologises to the court.’ Judge David Kennedy handed down a fine of €500 and two-year disqualification.
