Mother’s Day at Whale

The De­gani En­sem­ble will present ‘Mu­sic from the Movies’ at Whale The­atre in Grey­stones on Mother’s Day, Sun­day, March 11 at 4 p.m.

The ver­sa­tile De­gani En­sem­ble presents a pro­gramme of pop­u­lar movie themes in spe­cial ar­range­ments by founder mem­ber Alan Smale, and fea­tur­ing Alan on vi­olin and Ruby Ash­ley, oboe soloist.

Moth­ers and their chil­dren will en­joy the forth­com­ing per­for­mance.

The con­cert high­lights in­clude Stan­ley My­ers un­for­get­table ‘Ca­vatina’, from ‘The Deer Hunter’, mu­sic by En­nio Mor­ri­cone, the evoca­tive ‘Gabriel’s Oboe’ from ‘The Mis­sion’, and Nino Rota’s theme from ‘The God­fa­ther’.

No con­cert of mu­sic from the movies would be com­plete with­out John Wil­liams.

His iconic vi­olin solo from ‘Schindler’s List’ will be per­formed, along with an­other great mod­ern vi­olin solo ‘Ladies in Laven­der’ by Nigel Hess.
