Walking group keep injured man warm
AN experienced hill walker had to be located in the Wicklow Mountains after sustaining an upper leg injury.
Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team were contacted by the Gardai at 1.36 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, and made aware of the injured male who was part of a group walking on Croaghanmoira mountain.
While awaiting mountain rescue assistance the man’s walking companions, along with a walking group from Tullow, fed him and made sure he was kept warm.
Mountain rescue personnel located the party using Sarloc Rescue technology. The man, in his 60s, was assessed by medics and was then packaged and stretchered to a waiting mountain rescue vehicle. He was transferred to HSE ambulance, which transported him to hospital. The incident was stood down at 4.08 p.m..
