Walk­ing group keep in­jured man warm

AN ex­pe­ri­enced hill walker had to be lo­cated in the Wick­low Moun­tains af­ter sus­tain­ing an up­per leg in­jury.

Dublin Wick­low Moun­tain Res­cue Team and Glen of Imaal Moun­tain Res­cue Team were con­tacted by the Gar­dai at 1.36 p.m. on Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 4, and made aware of the in­jured male who was part of a group walk­ing on Croaghan­moira moun­tain.

While await­ing moun­tain res­cue as­sis­tance the man’s walk­ing com­pan­ions, along with a walk­ing group from Tul­low, fed him and made sure he was kept warm.

Moun­tain res­cue per­son­nel lo­cated the party us­ing Sar­loc Res­cue tech­nol­ogy. The man, in his 60s, was as­sessed by medics and was then pack­aged and stretchered to a wait­ing moun­tain res­cue ve­hi­cle. He was trans­ferred to HSE am­bu­lance, which trans­ported him to hos­pi­tal. The in­ci­dent was stood down at 4.08 p.m..
