Over €30,000 to fix centre’s roof
BRAY Municipal District has made an allocation of €30,500 towards the replacement of the roof of the community centre in Fassaroe.
Members made the decision at their meeting last Tuesday evening as part of their public realm expenditure.
Other projects agreed on the night included refurbishment of the seafront bandstand at €60,000; bin replacements at Bray Harbour, Sidmonton Park, Killarney Lane, Enniskerry Village and Kilmacanogue bus stop at €35,000; public lighting at Bog Meadow, €12,000; fencing at Millfield in Enniskerry, €10,000; the removal of old public toilets at the heritage centre, €10,000 and surfacing at the seafront exercise equipment, €10,000.
The original roof at the Fassaroe centre is in an unsafe condition and needs to be completely replaced. It’s estimated that it will cost up to €80,000 to make it safe and to ensure that it is to a high energy rating.
‘ The allocation of €30,500 from Bray Municipal District is not just a recognition of the important work that’s carried out in the centre, it’s also recognition of the fantastic team of people who operate it,’ said Cllr Michael O’Connor.
The centre has also recently been allocated some Leader funding towards the repairs.
