Three finals in Joule Park this week

-

JOULE PARK AUGHRIM will play host to three finals this week from this evening (Wednesday) to Friday as the leagues come to their conclusion ahead of the start of the championship action.

With debate raging over walk-overs and possible DRA appeals in recent weeks, it’s worth noting that for the first time in a long time the leagues are about to be wrapped up in the first week of July for the most part.

Starting this evening at county grounds, it’s the appetising meeting of Blessington and St Patrick’s in the Dunne Cup final.

Casey O’Brien’s men shipped a defeat to the neighbours last week and will be very keen to bounce back and claim the first bit of silverware for the season.

Paddy O’Connor’s men have been moving along nicely and will be massively encouraged by their dramatic victory over the Village in the west recently where Mikey O’Connor was introduced and turned the tide. With very few county ties this year, can the Blues go one step further this year.

There’s a belter in store on Thursday evening when AGB take on Tinahely in the Division 1A final at 7.45pm.

AGB didn’t attend the club launch on Monday evening in what is believed to be a protest at the refusal of the CCC to refix their last league game that clashed with the Wicklow Minors meeting with Dublin on which AGB manager Damien Redmond is a selector.

Alan Costello will be bringing his high-flying Tinahely men to the decider hoping to maintain their unbeaten run.

It will be interesting to see if this game goes down to the wire, which side will have the mettle to push on to victory.

And finally, on Friday, the Division 3 football final gets underway at 7.45 and will pit Baltinglass against the Kilcoole men in what should be a cracker of a game.
