BRAY PARISHONERS GIVE FR ENDA A BIG SEND-OFF
MONSIGNOR Enda Lloyd is moving on from the Holy Redeemer Parish after nine years in Bray. He celebrated his last two Masses at the church last Sunday morning, before a farewell party in Little Flower Hall.
Thankfully, he is moving just six kilometres away to the parish of Killiney, Ballybrack and Loughlinstown, and plans to visit Bray regularly. He will have a reduced workload in his new parish. ‘I have loved living in Bray and will miss it very much,’ said Fr Enda. ‘Holy Redeemer is a parish so full of life, gifts and energy, it was a pleasure and an honour to be part of such an extraordinary parish.’
At the end of the Mass, members of the liturgy committee and the whole community held their hands out in a blessing for Fr Enda. ‘I was moved to tears,’ he said. While there is sadness as he leaves, Fr Enda is looking forward to new challenges. ‘ The good thing is, at 75, I’m starting again!’
‘It is with real sadness that we bid Fr Enda a very fond farewell, as our Co-Parish Priest, but as a brother in Christ he will be forever family and there will always be a warm welcome for him here in The Holy Redeemer. We hope that he will drop in regularly to say hello,’ said the Parish Pastoral Council in a statement.
‘Fr Enda has been a kind shepherd to us all these past nine years. He has served
the Parish with love, humility, wisdom and a good sense of humour which so clearly arise from his love of God and his walk with Jesus.
‘He has supported and warmly encouraged all the volunteers in the various parish groups. He regularly says it’s what he loves most about this parish - seeing so many putting their faith into action. He has also wholeheartedly welcomed, and again encouraged, the growing role of laity in the life of the parish. We will miss him and we know that he will miss us. We wish him every blessing in his new parish and he will be in our prayers and our hearts always.’
