AT JUST 17, Bray boxing sensation Daina Moorehouse counts two European championships and five all-Irelands among her many victories.
A member of Enniskerry boxing club, the champion boxer has applied herself to her sport with phenomenal dedication, and a cool head.
Two-time Olympic medallist Paddy Barnes has declared Daina his favourite Irish amateur boxer, and she’s just as popular at home.
‘She has achieved so much,’ said her mum Melissa. ‘As Daina’s mother, I can say how dedicated she is and trains so hard.’
While studying for her Junior Cert, Daina trained every night, and got up before six every morning to run 8km before school. At 15, she was chosen to captain Ireland at the European Youth Boxing Championships in Bulgaria.
Daina was nominated by her proud parents John and Melissa, as well as her brother Michael, aunts, uncles and godparents.
This golden girl gives it her best shot every time, and she is a credit to her family, her club, her county and her country.
