CPO for Old Connaught and Woodbrook water scheme
Irish Water, in partnership with Dún Laoghaire – Rathdown County Council, has submitted a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) to An Bord Pleanála for the delivery of the Old Connaught and Woodbrook Water Supply Scheme.
The CPO, if granted, is for lands relating to the construction of new covered reservoirs, a pumping station, and a control building.
The project, when completed, will improve drinking water quality and security of supply for Southeast Dublin (Dún Laoghaire – Rathdown) and North Wicklow.
The scheme will ensure that drinking water complies with all regulations. The project includes the construction of two new covered reservoirs and a pumping station at Ballyman, as well as associated surface water drainage, pipelines and other works.
Paul Hickey or Irish Water, said: ‘ The construction of new reservoirs at Ballyman and the installation of new trunk water mains for the Old Connaught Woodbrook Water Supply Scheme will provide a more secure and resilient supply of water to the areas affected in North Wicklow and South Dublin.
‘ This CPO will ensure Irish Water can progress with this project, which is part of our ongoing investment in Ireland’s water infrastructure.’
