Siblings both scoop gold in CrossFit event

-

Bray siblings Emma Dowling (32) and Ben Collins (29), smashed the CrossFit Championship held in CSP Gym recently, winning the scaled CrossFit event in both the female and male categories. The Collins siblings, who both only took an interest in fitness and began CrossFit in the past few years, took rivalry to a new level by competing in strength, gymnastic movements and cardio fitness tests to take the double top podium places of the day.

Personal trainer and former Olympic weightlifting competitor, Emma is delighted at her success as it’s her first step back into the com- petitive fitness arena since becoming a mother 15 months ago. Ben, a fully qualified psychologist, psychotherapist and counsellor as well as an engineer working in the family business, took up CrossFit a mere three years ago. Winning his first ever competition was a surprise and delight. In fact Ben was so intent on simply taking part, while hoping to beat his sister, that once the final bell sounded he hadn’t realised he won until his individual judge congratulated him.

Their parents, Eileen and Liam Collins from Killarney Road, were both delighted and amused that their children both brought home gold.
