ST MARY’S hopes of retaining their Paddy Sheelan Cup title were dashed on Sunday afternoon when they made their exit at the quarter-final stage after Mattock Rangers claimed a four-point victory at Ardee.
The hosts entered the game as favourites to advance but it was Mattock who produced the better football on the day and in the end deservedly booked their place in the last four. Although there was never much between the teams, the Collon men always had the edge and ultimately it was the only goal of game from midfielder Brian Corcoran that saw them through.
