Rangers glide into semis

GLYDE Rangers turned in a strong sec­ond half dis­play to ease into the last four of the Kevin Mullen Shield at the ex­pense of Lannleire.

The game in Tal­lanstown on Sun­day af­ter­noon was a com­pet­i­tive af­fair for much of a first half that ended with the hosts lead­ing by five points. How­ever, Lannleire’s chal­lenge faded af­ter the break and Glyde were rarely trou­bled as they went on to win by 12 points.

Brian Duffy was the man who led the charge for the win­ners as he landed a to­tal of seven points from play in a very im­pres­sive per­for­mance.

It was the home side who made the brighter start and had two points on the board be­fore Conor McCullough hit the net for the open­ing goal of the game on six min­utes. How­ever, Lannleire got into their stride and were re­warded when Colin Mur­phy got in for a goal early in the sec­ond quar­ter.

Glyde com­posed them­selves af­ter this set­back and tagged on fur­ther points to take a 1-9 to 1-4 lead into the break.

The sec­ond half saw the Tal­lanstown side start brightly as they stretched their lead with early scores. Lannleire were un­able to re­spond on this oc­ca­sion and it was the hosts who ended up win­ners by 12 points.
